IBTimes meldde vrijdagochtend dat Facebook naast software nu een stap zal moeten maken in de hardware om zo de beleggers tevreden te houden. Paul Amsellem, een mobiele marketing expert, meent dat de social networking site een poging zal doen om RIM te kopen en eigen Facebook smartphones uit zal brengen. Facebook heeft hier eerder al pogingen toe gedaan, maar tot nu toe ontbreng de expertice hiervoor in het bedrijf.
Volgens Amsellem, een oud-medewerker van Nokia, "staat Facebook onder druk van investeerders en heeft een lange termijn project nodig.". Amsellem geeft diverse redenen aan waarom dit een succesvolle stap zou kunnen zijn voor Facebook.
